Beethoven's Ninth

as part of the Cultural Olympiad

Sala Verdi del Conservatorio di Milano

    14 February ore 17:00

Concert promoted by Città metropolitana di Milano in collaboration with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, as part of the Milan–Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad.

On the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games,  Città metropolitana di Milano and Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano are promoting an event of great artistic and symbolic value: a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, conducted by Maestro Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
Already chosen by the European Union as its official anthem, Schiller’s “Ode to Joy”, set to music by Beethoven in the final movement of Symphony No. 9, conveys the highest values of peace, brotherhood, and unity among peoples. A unity that is also an embrace of all differences, as the Choir sings in the Andante maestoso of the final movement:

Embrace, you millions!
A kiss for all the world!
