On Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00 AM, the Press Conference presenting the 2026/27 Season took place.
Following the welcome address by Foundation President Ambra Redaelli and the institutional greetings delivered via video by Federico Freni (Undersecretary of State for Economy and Finance), Francesca Caruso (Councillor for Culture of Regione Lombardia), and Tommaso Sacchi (Councillor for Culture of the Comune di Milano), Maestro Emmanuel Tjeknavorian presented his third Season as Music Director of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.
After two years that have affirmed and strengthened the deep bond between the Conductor and the Orchestra, the journey undertaken now reveals a new level of awareness: what was once a promise has become a reality, evident in every concert, in the acclaim of critics, and in the extraordinary success with audiences, marked by a steadily growing attendance of young people.
Building on these foundations, the 2026/27 Season takes shape: not as a mere continuation, but as the natural evolution of an artistic journey that continues to grow, driven by a shared pursuit of authenticity, exploration, and meaningful connection with audiences. With the 2026/27 Season, the ambition to establish a genuine relationship with the audience of the Auditorium di Milano is renewed and deepened, with the aim of leaving a lasting impression each time and creating programmes together with guest artists united by a shared vision of music.
As Tjeknavorian states:
“
This season is shaped by a clear conviction: every piece of music must have a reason to be heard today. Alongside timeless masterpieces, there are works that question us, that do not always offer comfort, that demand to be listened to. We want every programme to be more than a sequence of pieces: an experience that continues even after the final note
”
The invited artists take part in this same artistic pursuit, distinguished not only by their excellence, but also by their ability to engage in dialogue — with the Orchestra, with the audience, and within the shared space of the concert hall — giving rise each time to encounters that are unique and unrepeatable. The Season presents a richly varied artistic offering, featuring performers who differ widely in age, background, and repertoire, yet are united by their status as outstanding talents: from younger artists such as Alexandra Dovgan, Luca Kaufman, Sofia Sacco, Giulio Cilona, Diego Ceretta, Maximilian Kromer, and Dominik Wagner, to extraordinary instrumentalists including Daniel Müller-Schott and Rafał Blechacz, and conductors of long-standing international careers such as Marko Letonja, Jac van Steen, Hartmut Haenchen, and Marek Janowski, who has chosen the Auditorium di Milano for his farewell appearance on the podium in Italy.
The 2026/27 Season comprises 30 symphonic programmes, 6 chamber music concerts at Teatro Gerolamo, and one special chamber music event at the Auditorium di Milano. The 2026/27 programme also inaugurates the artistic residency of pianist Alexandra Dovgan.
The ambition of this Season is measured not only by the pursuit of artistic excellence, but also by the desire to create an increasingly shared musical experience. With the new programme, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano renews and strengthens its commitment to inclusion and accessibility, with the aim of making the symphonic concert an open, participatory, and welcoming space for everyone. Particular attention is devoted to people with sensory disabilities — deaf and hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired — as well as people with intellectual disabilities. Six concerts will be presented in accessible formats, thanks to dedicated mediation tools and audience support services developed in collaboration with specialists and partner associations.
The 2026/27 Season is dedicated to the memory of Gianni Cervetti, President Emeritus of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, who recently passed away — a figure who played an extraordinarily intense role in the political and cultural life of our country. During his commitment to the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, of which he served as President from 2008 to 2019, he made an invaluable contribution, guided by passion, vision, and a profound sense of responsibility.
SUBSCRIPTIONS — 2026/27 Season
Alongside the traditional Subscription package — a fixed subscription to 27 concerts with reserved seating — this year once again the Orchestra offers the Mosaico Subscription, a flexible package of 15 or 10 concerts, allowing audiences to choose among four different categories within the Symphonic Season programme. An additional opportunity to shape one’s own experience at the Auditorium di Milano, tailoring a listening journey according to personal tastes and preferences.
Following the positive response of previous seasons, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano is relaunching for the 2026/27 Season the project Genesi – Generazione Sinfonica, the Under 35 Community: a dedicated package for young audiences at an extremely accessible price. A complete experience that includes a drink at the Auditorium bar and a dedicated introductory talk — an open and informal conversation held directly in the concert hall and led by young speakers, in which everyone is invited to participate.
Tickets for the opening concert at Teatro alla Scala are on sale from 19 May 2026.
Tickets for individual concerts will go on sale from 25 August 2026.
Alongside the subscription packages, from the 2026/27 Season audiences will also benefit from Contrappunti, the new loyalty programme of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano. By collecting 250 points — earning 1 point for every euro spent on tickets — members will be entitled to purchase an additional ticket for just €1.
