Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano - Persone

Dorottya Láng

Among the principal engagements of the Hungarian mezzo-soprano in the current season are several important debuts, including Das Lied von der Erde by Mahler with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sakari Oramo; Ariadne auf Naxos with the Nederlandse Reisopera (a role she will reprise at the Opéra national du Rhin); Tannhäuser at the MÜPA Festival in Budapest under the baton of Michael Güttler; as well as her interpretation of the role of Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle by Bartók at the BBC Proms with Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Her upcoming engagements include her debut in Hindemith’s Cardillac at the Opernhaus Zürich under the direction of Fabio Luisi; her return as Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lahav Shani; and Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder on the occasion of Ralf Weikert’s 85th birthday at the Zurich Opera House. She will also perform Elgar’s Sea Pictures with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
From previous seasons, her outstanding interpretation of Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle by Bartók at the Norwegian Opera in Oslo deserves special mention—a role that has by now become emblematic for the artist—along with Waltraute in Götterdämmerung (conducted by Fischer) and Rienzi (conducted by Albrecht) at the MÜPA in Budapest; Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with Leopold Hager in Stockholm; Bluebeard’s Castle at the Berlin Philharmonie once again with Fischer; and Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Kirill Petrenko.
She has worked with many renowned orchestras, including the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the RSO Vienna, collaborating with conductors such as T. Dausgaard, L. Hager, E. Inbal, A. Orozco-Estrada, C. Meister, I. Metzmacher, K. Nagano, S. Sloane, M. Stenz, and T. Currentzis, as well as directors R. Castellucci, W. Decker, S. Herheim, and H. Schüler, to name just a few.
Her repertoire includes works such as La Cenerentola (Rossini), La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz), Hänsel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Rienzi (Richard Wagner), Der Rosenkavalier (Strauss), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), and Così fan tutte (Mozart).
Dorottya Láng is also an acclaimed concert artist who performs in major European concert halls, including Wigmore Hall, the Schubertiade, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Oxford Lieder Festival, and many other festivals.
