Fabio Biondi

Born in Palermo, Fabio Biondi began his international career at a very young age, driven by a precocious cultural and musical curiosity that led him to collaborate as first violin with the most famous ensembles specialized in the performance of ancient music with original instruments and performance practices.

The decisive turning point came in 1989, with the foundation of Europa Galante which, in just a few years, thanks to extensive concert activity throughout the world and incredible recording success, has become the most famous and internationally awarded Italian ensemble specialized in ancient music.

With Europa Galante, Fabio Biondi is invited to the most important Festivals and the most famous concert halls in the world, from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan to the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, from the Suntory Hall in Tokyo to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, from the Royal Albert Hall in London to the Musikverein in Vienna, from the Lincoln Center in New York to the Sydney Opera House.

In just a few years, almost a million records have been sold, and Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ recorded for Opus 111 have become a real international phenomenon. Europa Galante has won the most important international recording awards.

Today, Fabio Biondi embodies the symbol of the perpetual search for a style free from dogmatic conditioning and interested in the search for the original language. This inclination has led him to collaborate as a soloist and conductor with orchestras such as: Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Halle Opera, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In recent years, the repertoire has expanded – ‘Anna Bolena’ by Bellini, ‘Lucrezia Borgia’ by Donizetti, ‘Macbeth’, ‘Il Corsaro’ and ‘Ernani’ by Verdi – paying attention to pre-romantic and romantic authors, always with a view to rediscovering the original languages.
In recent seasons, as a soloist, he has performed at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, at Reading Concert Hall and at Kings Place in London with Bach’s ‘Sonatas and Partitas’, published by Naïve in 2022.
