Italian mezzo-soprano Laura Verrecchia has quickly established herself as one of the finest interpreters of Rossini and bel canto of the younger generation.
She graduated with honors in singing from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Music in Florence and won first prize at the 15th Ottavio Ziino Competition in Rome. In 2017, she was selected as a member of the Accademia Rossiniana at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro under the guidance of Maestro Zedda, debuting the role of "Marchesa Melibea" in Il viaggio a Reims.
Highlights of recent and upcoming engagements include: Italiana in Algeri (Isabella) at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Lucrezia Borgia (Maffio Orsini) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Cenerentola (title role) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Capuleti e Montecchi (Romeo) at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Salieri's Falstaff at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the Rai National Orchestra of Turin under Maestro Orozco-Estrada, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Milan Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
Other engagements include: Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Florence Opera (D. Michieletto production), at the Glyndebourne Festival, and at the Savonlinna Festival; Italiana in Algeri (Isabella) at the Toulon Opera and the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest; La Straniera (Isoletta) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Maestro Fabio Luisi; Anna Bolena (Giovanna Seymour) at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste with Maestro Ivan Ciampa (a G. Vick production); La Scala di Seta (Lucilla) at the Royal Opera House Muscat (a D. Michieletto production); Il Turco in Italia (Zaida) at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich; and Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Nicklausse) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples with Maestro P. Steinberg.
She also debuted in the title role in Marco Tutino's La Lupa e Il Berretto a Sonagli (world premiere) at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, directed by Davide Livermore and broadcast on Sky Classica.
