The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano and its Music Director, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, announce the extension of their collaboration through the 2028/29 Season.
Maestro Tjeknavorian—appointed in September 2024 and recipient of the 2025 Abbiati Prize from the Italian Music Critics as “Best Conductor”—will thus continue a shared artistic journey that has, from the outset, been distinguished by artistic excellence, international openness, and a strong commitment to audience development, further strengthening the Foundation’s role as a leading cultural institution for the city of Milan and for Italy’s musical landscape.
“We are delighted to announce the renewal of the Music Directorship through 2029,” said the Foundation’s President, Ambra Redaelli. “The bond between Maestro Tjeknavorian and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano is extraordinarily deep. This renewal ensures both stability and prestige for our future programming, fully matching the challenges ahead. In recent years, the Maestro has forged a strong connection with the city and its audiences: his professionalism, energy, and his ability to inspire the musicians and our entire community are invaluable assets that will continue to shape and strengthen the artistic identity of our orchestra.”
“This renewal is not simply a continuation, but a reaffirmation of an uncompromising artistic vision,” commented Emmanuel Tjeknavorian. “My collaboration with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano gains value with every encounter—refining our musical language, deepening mutual trust, and reinforcing our shared sense of direction. I look to the future with great curiosity and motivation, committed to continuing this work with profound dedication and to sharing, with as many people as possible both on and off the stage, a boundless love for music.”
Maestro Tjeknavorian will return to the podium of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano on May 21 and 23 for the closing concerts of the 2025/26 Season, followed by a tour in Salzburg and Graz.
