ARMONIE D'INFANZIA
Save the Children has provided a comprehensive definition of "educational poverty": "the deprivation of children and adolescents from the opportunity to learn, experiment, develop, and freely develop their abilities, talents, and aspirations".
For a long time, child poverty has been characterized and measured solely in economic terms. But just as important beyond material poverty are opportunities for educational, physical, and socio-emotional growth. For this reason, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, with the patronage of the City of Milan and the support of the Monte di Lombardia Foundation and the Pittini Foundation, is exploring the need to combat educational poverty through the experience of live classical music. This is
Armonie d'Infanzia, a project that aims to offer opportunities for learning and growth using music as the primary instrument.
With these words, Ambra Redaelli, President of the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, emphasizes the importance of the project:

”
The Foundation once again focuses on important issues for our society, such as inclusiveness and the new generations.
In this journey, children will feel part of a great project, a source of pride for them to remember even as adults.
Finally, they will realize how beauty can be a place of extraordinary value.

In the 2025/2026 season, the Armonie d’Infanzia
project will triple in size!
On one hand, 480 children from the fourth and fifth grades of primary school (9-10 years old) from two comprehensive schools located in the outskirts of Milan—Calvairate (I.C. Tommaso Grossi) and Quarto Oggiaro (I.C. Via Val Lagarina)—are involved in two performances as part of the Crescendo in Musica program, The Firebird (February 21) e Animal Chronicles (May 16). Students are offered four free workshops and exercises, led by a specialized teaching team working alongside the school teachers, and the opportunity to participate, also free of charge, in performances at the Milan Auditorium with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.
The story of The Firebird, the famous opera by Igor Stravinsky, is told through the words of Elisabetta Garilli, who involves school children and the public in the declamation of the magic formulas with which to resolve the complicated situations in which Prince Ivan finds himself, and through the illustrations of Alessandro Sanna, who creates live tables on the music using a drying painting technique.
Animal Chronicles, a pocket opera by Nicola Campogrande, composer in residence, based on lyrics by Toti Scialoja, features children from schools and the public singing songs describing the various animals together with the Milan Children's Choir, the "singing" actress Monica Demuru and the "non-singing" actor Roberto Abbiati.
On the other hand, the big news of this Season: the involvement of a nursery school in the last two events of the Musica da Cameretta series, aimed at children aged 3 to 7, where Gus, the musician hedgehog, and the chamber ensembles of the Kids and Junior Symphony Orchestras of Milan are the protagonists, hosted this year in the Ground Hall of BASE Milano.
The 34 children and parents in the older section (5 years) of the Bergognone Nursery School are offered two workshops to prepare them for free participation in the events Gus School on March 22nd and Gus takes the bus on May 10th.
