The Magic Flute, curated by Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, is a show for one actor, two musicians (a flute and a violin) and “pocket sets” inspired by Mozart’s famous opera.

The staging nods to adaptations for barrel organ and small instrumental ensembles (which from the end of the eighteenth century to the mid-twentieth century allowed the spread of the great operatic repertoire in the smallest suburban towns), to puppet theater and street theater. It is a wooden structure in the shape of an open book with windows from which papier-mâché puppets made by the director emerge.

It tells the story of Prince Tamino who sets out to save Princess Pamina, sent by her mother, the Queen of the Night, Astrifiammante, worried because Pamina has been kidnapped by the evil wizard Sarastro. Tamino, together with Papageno and with the help of the magic flute, will overcome a thousand obstacles to reach Sarastro's palace. Tamino and Pamina will discover, however, that Sarastro is not bad at all and that Astrifiammante's story was completely false. Thanks to the Truth acquired, they will defeat the Queen of the Night and fall in love while Papageno and the little monster Monostato will learn the importance of loving ourselves and accepting not being as others would like us to be.

The Magic Flute is a valuable musical experience that, through a combination of adventure, magic and valuable teachings, introduces audiences to the beauty of classical music and theatrical art, while inspiring their imagination and creativity.

The work deals with universal concepts, such as the contrast between darkness and light, wisdom and knowledge, and can stimulate reflection on themes of great importance in their formation, such as friendship and cooperation, courage and determination, inclusiveness and acceptance of diversity.
