What happens when Bach's music enters the cinema?
Why does such perfect, limpid, and spiritual music appear in the most extreme moments—violence, obsession, desire, crisis?

This three-part series is a cinematic journey guided by a unique presence: Johann Sebastian Bach. His music—among the highest expressions of the Western tradition—transcends eras, styles, and languages, revealing an extraordinary ability to adapt to vastly different situations and worlds without ever losing its own identity.
From great classics to contemporary cinema, Bach accompanies stories and characters, taking on a different guise each time: control, spirituality, prayer, and contemplation, but also tension, unease, and the abyss. It is music that seems at home anywhere—and which, for that very reason, never ceases to amaze.
Through guided listening and viewing of film sequences—ranging from The Silence of the Lambs to Shame, and from The Godfather to The Aviator, as well as works by Tarkovsky, Pasolini, Bergman, and Haneke—the course invites the audience into an interplay of music and imagery, offering simple yet profound tools to understand how sound transforms the meaning of what we see.
Each session explores a different theme, demonstrating how Bach can, in turn, give voice to conflicting emotions, offer solace, and provide salvation.

The course is open to everyone and requires no musical expertise; it is designed for lovers of cinema and music, and for anyone wishing to listen—and watch—in a new way.
